Facebook is getting more of dental professionals joining it everyday. More of dental pictures are posted there either for educational purposes or for patients attraction, or simply a show off. Always there is a hot topic about displaying patients’ dental photos or their eyes unmasked or showing their total face or body. This practice should be controlled by ethics and regulations. • Of course not!!! That’s a clear violation of patient privacy ethics, not to mention being illegal in all decent countries. Personally speaking , if I were a patient and found my medical information or photos on the net (I don’t care if it’s FB or not) , I won’t hesitate for a second to file a lawsuit. Getting patient photos in a journal or a book is a different story, but still patient consent is needed of course.

what about if its only the intra oral picture of lesion not the patient,in this way u can share the knowledge without affecting the privacy of the patient. Well consent has its owm importance and ideally and ethically should be taken.
